Phew, things have been so crazy busy for me in the past few weeks that I haven’t had a chance to update my portfolio blog much. I did, however, have a chance to submit another show preview for the Stranger. This week’s was for a great local bill at the Sunset, with Thee Emergency headlining. Go on, read it.

When Three Imaginary Girls was asked to write for the debut issue of Seattle Sound, a music magazine focused on the local, independent music scene in Seattle, I wrote this piece, entitled “Three Seattle Music Picks from Three Imaginary Girls.”

When then Seattle Weekly Music Editor Michaelangelo Matos asked me to write an article for their CD-R-Go column, I didn’t hestitate. Did I want to pick my favorite songs of the moment and write an article about them? That’s like, my dream job.

The resulting article was called “A Crush on Us” and ran in spring 2005.

One of the great privileges of being imaginary is our amazing relationship with KEXP, the world’s greatest radio station. Three Imaginary Girls makes frequent guest DJ appearances at the station, and we also write a weekly feature for the KEXP blog. Mostly, our blogs highlight up-coming shows that we find of interest. Now I can’t claim to having written all of our posts — after all, there are three of us — but here are links to some interesting features that are mine, all mine!

More than any other work I’ve done in my life, I’m proud of the indie-pop explosion that is Three Imaginary Girls, a music and pop-culture website I launched back in June 2002 with two of my fellow music-loving pals. The site (which we like to joke is “pre-blog blogging”) has grown from our gushing rants about the live music scene in Seattle that we bribed our friends to read to an independent music online destination, with album reviews, film reviews, political feautures, podcasts galore, and of course, our beloved live show rundowns, all reaching over 150k readers monthly. As co-founder and editor of the site, I’m responsible for planning, writing, and/or editing all content sitewise, plus advertisements, public relations, events, and all the other wondrous things that keep our site afloat.

The site is set for a major relaunch in early Spring 2007, so stay tuned. In the meantime, you can visit us at www.ThreeImaginaryGirls.com.
